I have been experimenting with Wemos D1 mini for deep sleep and came across the video of Andreas Spiess (Youtube Link: Wemos D1 Mini Low Power). After removing the copper trace as shown in the video (so that CH340 does not get 3.3V during normal operation, but it gets its 5V supply when connected to the USB for programming), everything should be normal and wemos should have a better power consumption. The NodeMCU and the Wemos D1 WiFi, a larger profile that mimics the Arduino UNO form, reliably woke from deep sleep. So far, the Adafruit HUZZAH fails to wake after 20 or 30 sleep cycles. I’m still working on the HUZZAH but the letter carrier just brought a package with three Wemos D1 Mini ESP8266 devkits and an OLED display shield. I am playing a bit with a deep sleep, battery powered ESP8266 (based on the Wemos D1 Mini, because I don't want to deal with USB-to-Serial, mainly). After some tests, I get about 180µA in deep sleep with a HT7333, which is totally fine for me.
